MEET NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR DR. KYRA WIDENMAIER, ND
Understanding my own health changed everything
Hi, I'm Dr. Kyra
Understanding my own health changed everything.
Before I became a Naturopathic Doctor, I was a student in Athletic Therapy and struggling with my own health. I felt tired all the time, dealt with constant bloating, and knew something wasn't right. When I finally advocated for myself and was diagnosed with celiac disease, everything started to make sense. Having an answer was life-changing, but it also made me realize how many people are living with symptoms that haven't been fully understood.
My approach is evidence based, but it starts with your whole story
My path to Naturopathic Medicine started with my own health journey. After years of digestive concerns, fatigue, bloating, and feeling like something wasn’t quite right, I was eventually diagnosed with celiac disease. That experience taught me the importance of asking questions, advocating for your health, and looking beyond individual symptoms to understand the bigger picture.
With a background in Athletic Therapy and a desire to understand health on a deeper level, I moved to Toronto to attend the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Today, I bring both perspectives into my practice. My Athletic Therapy background gives me a strong understanding of movement, injuries, and the musculoskeletal system, while my naturopathic training allows me to consider nutrition, digestion, hormones, sleep, stress, and how these pieces can influence one another.
You know your body best. I'm here to help you understand it.
I’m naturally curious and love connecting the dots. I believe healthcare should be collaborative, you know your body and your experiences best, and my role is to listen, bring my clinical knowledge to the conversation, and help you understand where it makes the most sense to start.
I also believe meaningful change doesn’t require doing everything perfectly. The foundations matter: nourishing your body, moving in ways that feel good, prioritizing sleep, managing stress, and building realistic habits that can support you long term.
My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and more confident in your health, with a better understanding of your body and a strong foundation you can return to through every stage of life.
SPEAKING OF MY MISSION —
I became a Naturopathic Doctor to help people...
Feel understood by someone who actually connects the dots across their health, instead of treating each symptom on its own.
Understand what's behind concerns like digestive issues, hormonal changes, or persistent fatigue, without spending hours researching symptoms alone.
Build a strong foundation, supporting things like thyroid health, chronic pain, or stress, through nutrition, movement, sleep, and habits they can maintain long-term.
Leave feeling confident managing their health, whether that's a specific diagnosis, a hormonal or reproductive concern, or symptoms that don't have a name yet.
I believe you deserve to understand your health
Healthcare should be a collaboration. You know your body and your experiences better than anyone, and my role is to listen, bring my clinical knowledge to the conversation, and help you understand how the different pieces of your health may connect. You shouldn't have to become an expert, spend hours researching your symptoms, or feel like you have to figure everything out on your own just to feel informed.
I also believe meaningful change doesn't come from doing everything perfectly or overhauling your life overnight. The basics matter, nourishing your body, moving in ways that feel good, prioritizing sleep, managing stress, and building habits you can actually maintain, and that's the foundation we build from.
Ultimately, I want you to leave my care feeling heard, supported, and more confident in your own health, with a strong foundation to come back to as you navigate every stage of life.
A little more about me…
I love travelling and exploring somewhere new.
Whether it’s a new city, a new restaurant, or somewhere completely different, I’m always up for an adventure.
I’m always moving in some way.
I grew up playing competitive softball and volleyball, and later had the opportunity to play college softball with the SAIT Trojans. While my competitive days are behind me, I still love staying active through running, strength training, Pilates, and long walks.
I’ve become a bit of a gluten-free food finder.
Since being diagnosed with celiac disease, finding genuinely good gluten-free restaurants has become one of my favourite things to do — and of course, I have to share the good ones when I find them.
I have a Lab who makes sure I get outside every day.
Kruze is 6 years old and keeps me active year-round. He gives me an excuse to get outside in every season and is one of my favourite parts of life outside the clinic.
I’m naturally curious.
I genuinely love learning, trying new things, and asking questions — which probably explains a lot about how I ended up doing what I do.
